Rendered Pork Fat
Rendered Pork Fat, also known as lard, is made by cooking all the moisture out of pork fat. It has been used in cooking for as long as we have been eating pigs. Rendered Pork Fat is a great natural fat that can be used in cooking or baking. It was used in baked goods for years before the introduction of vegetable oils and hydrogenated oils – think of it as a natural crisco. At Porter Road, we have been rendering pork fat since we opened our Butcher Shop doors, because whole animal means whole animal.
